Select Season

Select is a more competitive environment than a recreational softball season. The program was developed by USA Softball to permit girls who possess anywhere from an intermediate to an advanced skill level, additional time to practice and or play additional games apart from a recreational team. 

To play on a Select team, your athlete MUST be registered with Bonita Valley and MUST participate in the upcoming Spring Recreational season.

If a player is chosen to participate on a Select team, it will be in addition to the players recreational softball team commitment during the spring season. Bonita Valley attempts to field teams in the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions. IF considered for a Select team, families must commit to the following requirements (per USA Softball):

- Select teams will require an additional day of practice or game(s) per week outside of their recreational softball team commencing January 1ST through April 3RD
- Select teams may not have more than four travel ball players on a team commencing January 1ST
- Select players must participate in no less than 75% of their games to maintain eligibility for the select program
- Select players are NOT GUARANTEED selection and or participation on an All Star team

Select teams will play in weekend games and or tournaments against other select type teams. These events will not conflict with players spring recreational practices or games.

Select teams are not always a good fit for every family. There are additional costs that are incurred by participating on a select team, apart from the required spring season registration fees. The additional costs are team dependent that primarily are used for uniforms, tournaments and umpire fees.
