2024 Bonita Valley All Stars

2024 BV All-Stars Try-Out Contract

PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER ON THE DAY OF TRY-

OUTS.

Bonita Valley Girls softball will be conducting All-Star tryouts at Discovery Park

on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Girls eligible for all age groups will try out at

5:00pm. Check-in will be at 4 pm. Pre-registration is required by April 29, 2024.

14U will tryout at Discovery Field #1

12U will tryout at Discovery Field #2

10U will tryout at Discovery Field #3

8U will tryout at Discovery Field #4

BV will hold one All-Star tryout to establish the 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U All-

Star teams (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Copper). Players who are not selected for

a Gold team may be eligible/considered for a Silver/Bronze/Copper team

based on the tryout. Players must be present on the tryout day to be

considered for All-Stars.

2024 All-Star Eligibility and Participation Rules

· A player who participated on a team outside of their recreational league after

March 31, 2024, of the current season is NOT eligible. For example, a player

shall not participate on any non-USA softball team, All-Star Team, or travel type

team after March 31st. “Participation” includes a try-out, practice, practice game,

scheduled game, or tournament.

· A player must have participated in at least 75% of their Bonita Valley

Recreation team games. Participation will be validated by team managers,

utilizing game scorebooks. (USA Softball Yellowbook 2.3.1 Exception: High

school students who are age eligible to return to the 14u age classification may

return to the league in which they played during the previous year providing the

league has less than 30 14u eligible players. The 14u All-Star Team shall not

include more than four (4) players who attended High School. A player returning

to the 14u Age Classification must have been registered with the league before

May 15th of the current season. Returning High School players must be

approved by the league Board of Directors.)

· USA Softball Yellowbook 2.2.3: States “A team shall not have more than four

(4) players who played with a travel type team after January 1st of the current

season. (Note: this applies to All Star Teams only and is limited to four (4) travel

ball players per division within the league.)

· Players and parents must be in good standing with the Bonita Valley Softball

League.

· USA Softball and All Star division age eligibility cut-off date is September 1,

2024.

Bonita Valley All-Star Policy

· All-Star managers are chosen by the All Star Selection Committee.

· Any player meeting the eligibility and participation rules may try out for an

All-Star team. All-Star teams are chosen by the All-Star manager for the age

division and are subject to final approval by the Bonita Valley Executive Board.

** Player selection to an All-Star team does not guarantee playing time.

Playing time and assignment of positions is at the discretion of the All-Star

manager**

Conduct

All-Star managers, players and parents will be representing Bonita Valley Girls

softball as well as the communities of Chula Vista and Bonita. All actions should

reflect integrity and respect. Any misrepresentation or misconduct will be brought

to the Bonita Valley Executive Board and appropriate action will be taken. Severe

or repeated misconduct may lead to removal of the manager and or player from

the team. Misconduct by a parent could also result in removal of that parents’

child from the All-Star program. The Bonita Valley Executive Board will determine

all actions.

Finances

Each year Bonita Valley spends over $10,000 in support of its All-Star teams.

Please be aware that each All-Star Manager will require an additional payment

per player to help fund team start-up costs and tournament fees not paid for by

the league. This amount will be $600 and is due upon selection (no later than

May 2, 2024). ALL players that make an All-Star team are required to pay this

start-up cost (including Managers and Coaches kids), there are scholarships

available to off-set this expense. Parents can contact BV Treasurer and BV

Sponsor/ Fundraising Coordinator for more information. Parents can also expect

to incur additional expenses such as the cost of travel, lodging, and food for

tournaments as well as additional uniform items and equipment agreed to by the

All-Star Team Manager and parents. Coaches will be required to provide you

with an accounting of your team’s expenses. Each team will have a committee

consisting of: Team Manager, Team Parent, Treasurer, and one additional

parent.

Bonita Valley will cover the registration costs for 3 tournaments as well as the

District Tournament (Gold Teams Only). Bonita Valley will also cover State and

National tournament fees if applicable to your team. Individual teams will pay for

any additional tournaments scheduled as well as all other costs incurred by the

team.

Parent Participation

All players (and their parents) chosen for All-Stars are REQUIRED to

participate in fundraising. Specific fundraising activities will be up to the

individual teams.

Silver, Bronze & Copper Teams

Any player who tries out and is NOT selected for a Gold team, will be eligible for

the Silver, Bronze or Copper team at the same age level as the tryout attended.

Time Commitment

Players who are asked to join an All-Star team can expect to practice daily with

their team. In addition to team practices, there are tournaments that will be a

requirement to attend.
